• Development of financial goals
• Analysis of net worth and liquidity
We work with clients to define financial goals and help manage cash flow to accomplish these goals. We start by tracking expenses and income on a monthly basis to help clients categorize spending and determine where adjustments can be made to achieve individual goals. We also analyze cash flow on an annual basis to factor in irregular income and spending.
• Estate planning
• Insurance assessment
• Risk management
We review our clients existing insurance policies including life, disability, long term care, home and auto as part of our financial planning process. We provide an objective analysis of the suitability of the current policies and provide recommendations for any deficiencies. We work with insurance professionals when additional or alternative coverage is needed.
• Portfolio analysis and asset allocation
Having an appropriate asset allocation is a significant element in helping clients with financial planning. The investment strategy should be built around the client goals and risk tolerance letting the financial planning drive the allocation. We evaluate the weightings of different asset classes within a portfolio to determine the risk/reward characteristics and appropriateness for client specific needs and objectives.
• Education planning
We help clients prepare for the increasing costs of college education by projecting the amount of funds that will be needed and selecting an appropriate savings and investment strategy. We can project the cost of a specific school or look at a range of schools when the goal is not yet known. There are different types of college savings plans available so we help clients determine which is most appropriate for their situation and help have the account set up.
• Retirement planning
A key concern when planning for retirement is outliving income. We work with clients to identify sources of income and assets available to fund retirement needs and develop a plan for accumulation before retirement and distribution during retirement. This process involves evaluating client specific goals, cash flow needs, tax planning, and asset allocation.
• Investment management
Our investment management is guided by the financial planning we do for our clients. We believe a full understanding of client goals, cash flow needs, time horizon and risk tolerance is essential to investment management. Our investment portfolios are designed to capture market return while minimizing risk by diversifying within and across a wide variety of asset classes, minimizing fees and maximizing after-tax returns.
